House Family Winery is a family owned and operated business located on our 73-acre family compound above Saratoga California. Our House Family Wines are made 100% from grapes grown in our Old Oak Vineyard located on our property.

Dave House is the family patriarch and Proprietor of House Family Winery. He oversees the farming and the overall business operation. Dave developed his management skills as an executive at Silicon Valley high tech companies such as Intel and Bay Networks and is one of the four owners and Managing Partner of The Mountain Winery in Saratoga.

Jim Cargill is married to Dave’s daughter, Shelley, and is a chef and owner of Rio Adobe Restaurant in nearby Cupertino. Jim’s talents with food and business management serve him well in his role of Operations Manager. Jim runs the business aspects of House Family Winery and also assists Lauren with Vineyard photos.

Lauren Malechek is Dave’s stepdaughter. A graduate of the California Academy of the Arts, Lauren is the Marketing and Graphics Manager for House Family Winery. Her artistic, graphic and photography skills are obvious in our web site and newsletters. Lauren executes our marketing programs and sales promotions.

Cesar Hernandez is our Vineyard Manager. Cesar is the master of all things growing and all equipment needed to make them grow. Cesar manages a crew of 8-9 members and grows the wonderful grapes used to make not only our wines but also the Estate wines at The Mountain Winery.

Gwen Caldwell is our office manager. Gwen makes sure our books are kept, our tax returns are filed and our bills are paid. Gwen keeps us organized and makes things happen on time and when needed.    

Jim House's love of wine - especially our family's wine - is infectious! When he is not promoting the stunning fruits of our cellar as Sales Manager, Jim trains parents in the child-calming techniques of the Reset Method™.  He developed this Method while principal of several tough schools.
